The Dragon Queen Tiamat was content. She stirred in her lair, shifting and coiling making a pleasing hissing sound as her scales rub together. Her slave caretakers moved carefully to avoid her shuffling even as they strived to comfort her, to rub her scales with pleasantly perfumed oils and show her treasures that pleased her eye.
Then stabbing pain and agony invaded her contentment, memories not her own invaded her thoughts and her awareness expanded to the limits of her mind and tried to go beyond. She lashed about, scattering her caretakers like toys and hissed and roared her frustration. Her guardians and consorts alike rushed into her lair to see who or what had hurt their queen and found that something far more than what Tiamat had been was now in control, and that something was now in the lair that has not been before.
The Dark Queens confinement in this limited body was infuriating. Her senses were limited, she could barely hear her own worshipers prayers and it took much of her concentration to answer their prayers. she hissed savagely as the horrific memories of her death came to her yet again and she reflexively lashed out, killing three of her caretakers as one would step on ants.
The Destroyer had come to her universe where she has been far greater than this current form and had decimated everything, killing all within one standard day. During that time, those mortals who were capable had fled to the only world that was open to them, the prime material world of Toril. For many of the deities that resided in Telsar, they had little choice but to fight. Telsar was the only place they existed.
Not so for Tiamat, nor her counter, Bahamet. Tiamat had managed to send much of her memories and even some energy to her counterpart in Toril before the Destroyer killed her essence in that realm. Any deity that had another form in another realm was banished back to it as Telsar was ravaged, then consumed. For Bahamet, this was a slight demotion from greater to intermediate god while for Tiamat, this was a severe demotion.
Her role here was to guard the entrance to the second layer of hell. A watchdog and little else as the limited mind of her body was not capable of much more. That is until the majority of her memories and even power from the Telsar realm infused her. Not only that, but her other more powerful self of that now dead realm also managed to send something else. Something that only now her limited mind was just understanding.
Tiamat sat coiled and hissing in her vast lair, her agitation grown yet again from her inability to be what she once had been. Her memories as much a torment as a blessing. Her more powerful self was dead, but her memories and ideas lived on now through her. As understanding from her former self unfurled in the mind of the Dark Queen, she stopped hissing and began to issue orders to her still stunned consorts and generals. Telsar would be destroyed soon, the Dark Queen of that realm had foreseen her fate and had acted immediately to preserve her knowledge and power. She would have to move quickly, very quickly indeed to take full advantage of this knowledge.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Faraway Keep was a floating island with a large castle on top nestled against a small hill. The top of the floating island was some 3 miles wide and held a small forest, a large lake and a small town. The bottom of the island stretched down nearly a thousand feet and looked a upside down mountain top, for that is exactly what it was.
The creation of the keep happened some four thousand years ago and had once belonged to a wizard named Mattick. Using his mighty magic of the time, he had literally cut off the top of a mountain, flipped it over and used the flat portion to build his citadel for study and seclusion. The first time of no magic had nearly destroyed this citadel as it had plummeted from its lofty location, but it had remained more or less intact as magic had returned in time for Mattick to save the citadel, but using that much energy killed him and turned him into a undead creature.
Despite his undead condition, Mattick still retained his mind and buried the citadel and sealed himself in and put himself in stasis as most liches become evil beyond redemption and so the citadel remained buried for thousands of years .
A small group of explorers found a upper tower entrance way that had become exposed to the surface and explored the tower and awoke Mattick. Mattick was furious until he found out that these explorers could reverse his undead condition and in thanks, gave them the citadel. He even helped them get it air born again.
The Citadel had many riches in it from a long forgotten age and it's library was still and good condition and most of the citadels magic was still fully functional. In short time the library and the explorers who now ran it (with the help of Mattick who had decided to stay on to continue his studies of this new magic) gathered quite a following. The lake was fed by a tie to both the water and positive energy plane so the waters were filled with healing and restorative energies. The citadel often trades its grown crops for other things the citadel cannot provide and their crops always get top price.
Since the citadel could move, many called the citadel Faraway Keep due to its constantly changing location and after a time became a haven for those who sought ancient knowledge. The citadel allowed any practitioner of magic in and for a price, allowed access to the library no matter the race, or belief of the creature as long as they were peaceful on the island.
During the first several years, the citadel attracted several dragons, both metallic and chromatic, and soon these even put aside their differences and even were allowed to create lairs under the citadel and acted as both guardians and sages for the citadel. As the power and fame of the citadel grew, so did its enemies. While those who seek knowledge are allowed, there were some who of course used that knowledge to try and destroy or take over the citadel and these were routed, and from them on denied access to the citadel.
For many years the citadel was at peace and the children that were born there were often gifted with magical abilities and heightened intelligence. As the humanoids bred, so finally did the dragons. A red and gold had mated as well as a blue and silver. Odd mixes that would typically never happen.
It was shortly after the dragon laid their eggs that disaster struck the citadel. A bad meeting with a powerful entity called Khealdon banished the citadel to the middle of a continent where the old Titan empire had once stood. The citadel was trapped there by ancient magic so powerful that not even Mattick could remove it.
During the first few days all was well as the citadels inhabitants explored this strange land and titan ruins. New creatures were found and powerful magics were discovered as well as new paths to power left behind by the dying titan race.
The council of wyrms were the first to find the citadel and offered what aid they could but then another crisis struck. The realm of Telsar was under attack by an entity called the Destroyer and because several of the citadels inhabitants were from that world they were able to create a temporary portal to allow a tiny portion of that worlds people safety and a new home at least temporarily.
It was during this time that someone or something had snuck into the dragons den and stole 15 precious dragon eggs. Despite powerful spells to locate the stolen eggs, they could not be found but the citadel would not give up.
It was nearly 3 months later when a clutch of green dragon eggs was found in a church to Tiamat with all the hatchlings dead as some horrific ritual had failed, but this had happened nearly a month prior. the only thing they knew was that this was connected to the theft of the citadels dragon eggs through commune spells. This did not bode well for the fate of the eggs.

It was a last resort that finally found the eggs. Silvermist Nightstar, a well known dragon slayer agreed to assist the goodly dragons of the citadel much to everyone's surprise. With her swords ability to locate anything draconic the location of the stolen eggs were pinpointed to Dragonspear castle after Silvermist and her sword battled a transcendent entity to gain the knowledge.

When Silvermist lead the assault on Dragonspear castle with the aid of all of the Faraway keep's dragon and martial forces a bloody and fierce battle was met as Tiamat's avatar appeared and gave a call that signaled the attack of every dragon that was loyal to her to commence her move against her hated rival Bahamet. The council of Wyrms treaty was broken and dragon war began on all continents. The draconic forces that were with Silvermist had to leave to protect all they held dear and even many of the Far Away Keeps army was forced to return to save their floating home.
Silvermist was left with a small handful of waterhavian forces, the goodly dragons of faraway keep and her own forces . This would not be enough to counter the demons, dragons and other allies of the Dragon Queen.
Despite their obviously fewer numbers, the forces of good smashed their way into the castle and it was there that Tiamat herself showed up with not just her personal guard, but with Bel, the demon lord of the first layer of hell as her ally. With him came even more greater fiends

The battle soon escalated even further as Silvermist called out for help for her old allies and they answered. Shifter, Khealdon and Marshia arrived and quickly evened the tide of the battle as they brought their transcendent might to the battle.
The battle of Dragonspear castle was a fierce one and many dragons, men, elves died there. The tide finally turned when Bahamet appeared and distracted Tiamat enough so that Silvermist with her dragon slaying weapon named Fang could finally make a killing blow and banish the avatar back to hell where she belonged.
With the fall of Tiamat, most of the chromatics lost their battle lust and fled and the eggs were found to be bathed in some sort of silvery fluid that was later identified as the remains of multiple dead gods.
Of the 15 eggs stolen, only 8 remained. The others could not be sense or located so they are assumed destroyed, but many still seek to find what their fate was.
Silvermist was for crushing the eggs but her sword informed her that the dragons within were NOT corrupted as the other eggs that were previously found has been. There was hope for these. Silvermist turned the Eggs back over to the dragons who they were stolen from - the dragons of Faraway Keep.

The Eggs continued with an overly long incubation with the goodly dragons and denizens of faraway keep speaking to and instructing the small forms within for two years, trying desperately to undo the evil Tiamat had tried to spill into them. The eggs were watched and guarded and finally, began to hatch ...

Oh yeah, very nice back story. It seems that everyone will be expecting alot of us, either corrupted or powerful. Problably both, considering how we play.

Okay NOW I'm interested in a dragon campaign. X3 BAHAMUT would be pleased. Razz I even have an idea for the character should I make it in time. But I have to say, you keep wrecking our homebrew worlds like this, and we're not going to let you play with them anymore. Razz
